Working in the Private Security Industry unit may have been achieved from a previous course. This would reduce the course duration by 1 day. RPL would be applied, granted that the candidate has their original certificate to prove exception.

The qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 years or over.

The Qualification provides learners the opportunity to:

Achieve a national recognized qualification that offers an introduction into the sector
Progress onto the NOCN Level 2 NVQ in Spectator Safety (QCF)

Learners will gain the knowledge and skills that are required to prepare for spectator events: Control the entry/exit, movement of spectators, responding to emergencies and crowd control.
Qualification Overview
This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to work as a steward in the Active Leisure and Learning sector. This may include events such as sports, music festivals, concerts, parades or carnivals. Learners gaining this qualification will know how to prepare for events, control entry and exit of customers, identify and deal with crowd problems and respond to emergencies.
The course provides a work-based qualification for people employed as safety stewards. It is suitable for staff working in a range of sports and other events where it will be necessary to safeguard the welfare of spectators, colleagues and other people. It is aimed also at those currently working as stewards and seeking recognition for their skills as well as those seeking employment as an event steward.
Qualification Structure
The qualification is made up of four mandatory units and is internally assessed through a portfolio of evidence.
How stewards prepare for spectator events
How stewards control the entry, exit and movement of spectators at events
How stewards monitor crowds and respond to potential crowd problems at spectator events
How to respond to injuries, illnesses and other emergencies in active leisure and learning
Progression routes could include:-

Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety
Level 4 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety Management
Licence to Practice qualifications e.g. Door Supervision or Security Guarding
NOCN Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety (QCF) 600/7138/2
The qualification will help underpin the provision of spectator safety at sports events, parades, concerts or carnivals with static and/or moving crowds. The qualification aims to deliver competence based training relating directly to the National Occupational Standards developed by skills active.
The qualification will:
Provide the learner with the opportunity to develop and apply skills and knowledge related to spectator safety within their work force. 
Enable the learner to demonstrate competence when carrying out their responsibilities at work
Develop a learner’s skills and knowledge in work activities relevant to their job role in the provision of spectator safety. 
Progress onto the NOCN level 3 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety.
